How to Get Your First Job as a Junior Web Developer

Getting your first job as a junior developer can seem daunting, and it should. After all, you’re walking into completely unfamiliar territory. You’ll be constantly worried about whether or not you’re ready to apply, getting caught up in questions of how much you should charge, and even stressing over whether or not you should pick #32a852 for that button instead of #35b859. In this article, I’m going to try and help you alleviate some of that stress, and set you on a track for employment. Chances are if you’re reading this, you already know enough to work as a developer. We often overestimate the skills required for certain jobs while also simultaneously underestimating our own skills. However, this is a completely normal part of the learning process when becoming a developer.

So without further ado, let’s look at the 5 steps necessary to becoming a Junior Web Developer.

Step 1: Learn to Code

This first one may seem obvious, and it’s one I hope that most of my readers have already embarked on. Of course, in order to work as a web developer, you will need to know how to develop websites.
